Fall Weave

Ridiculously humble name
for the gallant
little spindle
of a bird, brown creeper
fluttering down with the
rain-driven leaves

beginning again
its persistent ascent
of the threadbare birch
weaving life, the only
anti-entropic force
in the wintry universe.
